There are only two more days left before our volunteer day at the El Nogal Recreation Area.Come join ECTA in finishing a 330 foot reroute of the beginning (or end) of the South Boundary trail. In addition to giving back to our trails community, you'll also be giving back to the riparian ecosystem of the Rio Fernando. This new reroute will get visitors upslope and out of the Rio Fernando de Taos’ floodplain, improving the trail experience and reducing erosion into the river. The work will consist of constructing new trail, touching up the new trail that was built on National Trails Day, and brushing back encroaching vegetation from the new alignment.We'll be meeting at the El Nogal Recreation Area parking lot (Devisadero TH) at 9 AM and working until 4 PM.Please come prepared for a full day out in the field. Be sure to bring a day pack, plenty of food and water, sunscreen, layers, rain gear, gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses okay). The Palo Flechado reroute is coming along beautifully after our past couple of volunteer days. Thank you to everyone who has come out so far 👏We're so close to finishing the reroute! We just need YOUR help to finish the last little bit.Please join ECTA on July 28th for a volunteer day of new trail construction. Volunteering on your local trails is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills, and get some exercise.We'll be meeting at the top of Palo Flechado Pass (park in the large dirt pullout to the north of Hwy 64) at 9 AM and working until 4 PM. Come join ECTA and Taos Ski Valley, Inc. for a volunteer trail maintenance day on the crown jewel of northern New Mexico trails: the William's Lake trail!The William's Lake trail is our most popular trail in the Enchanted Circle region and the most direct route for people to access Wheeler Peak.We will be meeting in the Phoenix parking lot at 9 AM and working until 4 PM.The work will mainly consist of brushing back encroaching vegetation, improving or constructing drainage features, and other tread work.What to bring: day pack, plenty of food and water, layers, rain gear, sunscreen, sturdy hiking shoes, gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses okay). We'd like to give a huge thank you to our Adopt-A-Trail partners, the Moreno Valley Trekkers, for coming out last Saturday to do some volunteer trail maintenance.They improved drainage and brushed back encroaching vegetation on 1.3 miles of the Elliott Barker trail (from Apache Pass to Bull Springs).
