Have you noticed something different about the El Nogal section of the South Boundary trail? ๐Ÿค”As of last week, ECTA and the U.S. Forest Service - Carson National Forest officially completed the 330-foot South Boundary reroute. Changes you may have noticed:๐ŸŒผ The bridge has been reoriented to align with the new reroute๐ŸŒผ Signage has been moved to align with the new reroute๐ŸŒผ The old South Boundary trail alignment has been naturalized and rehabbed to prevent further erosionWhy did we reroute the trail you may ask? ๐ŸŒผ The old trail alignment was too steep and was causing erosion๐ŸŒผ The old alignment flooded in the spring because it was constructed in the floodplain (don't hike muddy trails!)๐ŸŒผ To improve water quality in the Rio Fernando Watershed๐ŸŒผ To improve user experience with a properly designed trailPlease respect the closure of the old trail alignment and use the new reroute! The new reroute will provide YOU with a better recreational experience and will allow wildlife and our watersheds to thrive#trailsconnectuse#enchantedcircletrailsr#enchantedcirclei#nmoutdoorsd#nmoutsidet#nmtruem#trailsr#trailmaintenancen#nmtrailsr#taos##NewMexicoe#trailbuildingl#getoutdoorsdoors ...
