ECTA drafted a conceptual trail plan with the Miranda Canyon Commission and the Forest is now reviewing it, getting input to incorporate into the next draft trail plan for the Miranda Commission’s digestion.
The proposal included both motorized and non-motorized routes, and attempts to incorporate current use patterns. Several trailheads were recommended to manage user access from both the west near Llano Quemado and on the east end of the topography.
The Forest introduced the idea of an additional access point off NM 518, with a connecting trail that links to additional routes to the south. There is also a proposed motorized recreation area on the western end of Miranda Canyon in an area that has been heavily used by motorized vehicles. We look forward to working with the Carson National Forest and the Miranda Canyon Commission to furhter develop this proposal.
