Thank you to the volunteers from the Taos Trail Runners who helped make ECTA's first overnight backcountry project a huge success!Seven volunteers from the TTR and ECTA contractor Courtney spent a night on the San Cristobal trail and together we:🌲 Cut out 22 deadfall from the San Cristobal trail🌲 Cut out 31 deadfall from the Lobo Peak trail between Lobo Peak and Flag Mountain🌲 Heavily cut back encroaching vegetation on the last 0.5 mile of the San Cristobal trail🌲 Learned the proper technique for throwing a javelin📸: Cameron Little#trailsconnectus #enchantedcircletrails #enchantedcircle #nmoutdoors #nmoutside #nmtrue #adoptatrail #trails #trailmaintenance #nmtrails #volunteer #taos #newmexico #trailbuilding #getoutdoors ... Escape the summer heat and come explore the lush, beautiful Yerba Canyon with the Taos Women's Outdoor Adventurers!☀️ Please RSVP by emailing taosbabysitting@gmail.com ☀️Details:☀️ When: Saturday, August 23rd at 8:30 AM (folks may come and go as they need, there's no requirement to stay the entirety of the workday)☀️ What to Expect: A day filled with fun and trail maintenance! Work will mostly consist of using loppers and hand saws to cut back encroaching vegetation and using pick mattocks and McLeods to improve drainage on the trail. The trail starts at 8,000' and steadily climbs while crossing the creek many times. We'll be hiking about 4-6 miles roundtrip depending on trail conditions.☀️ What to Bring: Please wear long pants, sturdy hiking shoes/work boots, work gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses okay). Bring a day pack with plenty of food and water (the trail follows a creek you can filter from), sunscreen, layers, and rain gear. *We will be on the trail all day and not returning to the cars for lunch*ECTA will provide the hard hats and tools. We hope#trailsconnectuse#enchantedcircletrailsn#enchantedcirclei#nmoutdoorse#nmoutsidem#nmtrues#adoptatrail##trails##trailmaintenancel#nmtrailsa#volunteer##taosi#NewMexicoe#trailbuildinge#getoutdoorsuilding #getoutdoors ...
